These homeowners wanted help in keeping on top of a full kitchen renovation. This kitchen had an old vinyl tile floor. The homeowners did not want to remove the old floor as it most likely contains asbestos. While asbestos can cause cancer in humans, the material needs to be loose in the air. Leaving asbestos tile and covering it with a new floor keeps the asbestos from causing harm.
The homeowners decided on a floating PVC floor. The floating floor is not secured to the floor beneath but rather to the tile next to it. This allows for expansion and contraction, and lets the floor bend a bit on uneven surfaces.
Prior to installation floor leveler was used in certain parts where walls and cabinetry was removed.
