These Salem homeowners wanted to increase the usable area of their backyard.  Initially the backyard sloped sharply near the property line.  By adding a retaining wall near the property line, we were able to create a larger flat area that they could use to build a patio and gardens.

Timber was chosen as they want a wall made of natural materials, but also be cost effective.  This type of a wall will last 30-40 years before needing to be replaced.
